Built using pressure-treated lumber, the structure incorporated sturdy handrails, square balusters, and clean wooden treads. The vertical support posts were anchored securely on concrete footings to stabilize the stairs along the sloped terrain. At the top of the stairs, the new wood decking transitioned directly into the home's existing dark-painted deck framework. This project demonstrates the structural details involved in custom decks designed for sloping lots.

The construction featured brown composite floorboards paired with matching horizontal board skirting that neatly encloses the lower framing. A screened-in porch section was built over a portion of the platform, featuring a finished wood-paneled ceiling with recessed lighting and a ceiling fan. Near the stairs, a stone kitchen island with dark countertops was integrated to support outdoor cooking appliances. Black metal posts and thin cable railings secure the entire perimeter and staircase while maintaining open views.

Active renovation work is underway on Columbiana Road in the Gentilly Forest neighborhood of Vestavia Hills to update both the home's roof and its rear outdoor living space. A complete roof replacement is currently in progress, with older, weathered asphalt shingles being stripped away down to the plywood. Damaged sections of decking are being replaced with new plywood sheets before synthetic underlayment and fresh gray architectural shingles are laid down. Simultaneously, the backyard features a weathered wood deck and overhead pergola structure that are undergoing a full custom decks rebuild.
